A man faces multiple charges after police say he threatened four people with a firearm at a shopping center in Wilmington, Delaware. The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Chestnut Run Shopping Center on Faulkland Road.
What Happened
According to police, Bruce Thorngate IV, 37, stood near a store when he approached four people. For reasons still under investigation, Thorngate lifted his shirt, revealed a gun, and threatened to kill them, authorities said.
After the confrontation, Thorngate fled toward a nearby neighborhood. Officers later spotted him walking and took him into custody without incident.
Charges and Evidence
Police recovered a loaded handgun from Thorngate’s waistband during the arrest. Because Thorngate is a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing or carrying a firearm, according to investigators.
He now faces the following charges:
- Four counts of aggravated menacing
- Four counts of terroristic threatening
- Multiple firearms violations
Aftermath
None of the victims suffered injuries. Thorngate was arraigned and committed to the Department of Correction on $64,000 cash bail.
