While a historic summer winds down this weekend, America 250 celebrations continue to make waves across Philadelphia. On Saturday, the National Constitution Center hosted its very own “Firstival” , part of a weekly tradition honoring the city’s lasting contributions to the nation.

A Year-Long Celebration of “Firsts”

The event is part of the “52 Weeks of Firsts” initiative, a year-long program that highlights Philadelphia’s role in shaping American history and culture. Each Saturday brings a new theme and a new reason to gather.

“The ’52 Weeks of Firsts’ is about celebrating all of Philly ingenuity…the entire calendar year…Every week is something different every single Saturday…we want people to come out and enjoy every single one of those celebrations,” said Cari Feiler Bender, spokesperson for Philadelphia Historic District.

September Programming at the Constitution Center

The National Constitution Center is keeping the momentum going with its own September lineup of special events. Highlights include:

  • First Amendment Day on September 9th
  • Additional weekly programming tied to the “52 Weeks of Firsts” theme

Organizers are encouraging residents and visitors alike to take part in the remaining celebrations throughout the year. For more details, visit the National Constitution Center’s website.
