As summer winds down this weekend, celebrations marking America 250 continue across Philadelphia with energy and excitement. The National Constitution Center joined in the festivities by hosting its own “Firstival” event.
This gathering is part of a weekly tradition throughout the year called the “52 Weeks of Firsts,” which honors Philadelphia’s lasting contributions to the nation. Each Saturday brings a new theme, keeping the calendar packed with opportunities for the community to engage with history.
“The ’52 Weeks of Firsts’ is about celebrating all of Philly ingenuity…the entire calendar year…Every week is something different every single Saturday… we want people to come out and enjoy every single one of those celebrations,” said Cari Feiler Bender, Spokesperson for Philadelphia Historic District.
